Hanae Baruchel

Ashoka U.S.
U.S. Fellow Selection Leader
After leading several social justice initiatives in her youth and seeing friends grapple with the long-term effects of genocide and youth homelessness, she decided to pursue Peace and Conflict Studies in university. Central to her interest was the tension between ethics and efficiencies in the citizen sector. Ashoka was one of the few organizations she came across that addresses those tensions at their core, with an unusual and exciting focus on innovation and entrepreneurship as levers for impact. It was love at first sight! Since 2008, Hanae has worked with Ashoka teams across North and South America. She now leads Ashoka’s Fellow selection efforts in the U.S. Immigrant integration and Internet freedom are among her top interests. Hanae speaks several languages and teaches Afro-Brazilian percussion.
