Design Specialist
Jen Hughes joined the National Endowment for the Arts as design specialist in January 2011, managing the Art Works grant program to support design projects nationwide. She also currently supports the Chairman’s Leadership Initiative, Our Town, a new federal grant program to fund creative placemaking. Previously, she worked at the Washington, DC Office of Planning and Department of Small Business Development on land use planning for the DC streetcar system, as well as creative sector projects to foster local entrepreneurial development. In addition, she brings the Arts Endowment prior experience in communications and project management from the private sector. Jen holds an undergraduate degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley with a focus on community development and design.
