Mike Feerick is Founder & CEO of ALISON.com, a leading global free online education and workplace skills training provider with 2 million registered learners and 300,000 graduates worldwide. Founded in 2007, ALISON is recognised as one of the first MOOC provider (Massive Open Online Course), a movement which is revolutionizing global access to education and workplace skills training and career advancement opportunity. ALISON provides Certificate and Diploma level courses across a wide range of basic workplace skills and basic education subjects as diverse as digital literacy to English language. Mike is an internationally recognised social entrepreneur. He received a Diploma Award from UNESCO for services to free education in 2010 and an Ashoka Fellowship in 2011. He is an Arthur Guinness Fund Awardee (2012) for his community work and a frequent guest speaker on the Education, Employability, Social Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Diaspora. Mike is also Founder & Chairman of Ireland Reaching Out (Ireland XO.com) the Irish National “Reverse” Genealogy Programme. He is a member of the Global Irish Economic Forum, the Clinton Global Initiative, and TED, and holds a BBS from the University of Limerick and MBA from Harvard Business School. He was founding Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the University of Limerick Business School and is a former Director of the University of Limerick Foundation. He a former Chairperson of the Irish Support & Advice Service in London. An avid folk musician, historian, and hurling supporter, he lives in Loughrea, Co Galway, Ireland, with his wife Eileen and four children.
