Nancy Barrand is a Senior Advisor on Program Development at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Since starting with RWJF in 1986, she has worked on a range of programming concerning health care policy research and financing, supportive housing for the chronically homeless, integrating community and correctional health care, long term care, and rural health care. As a member of the foundation’s Vulnerable Populations Portfolio, she has helped to develop such programs as GreenHouse, Playworks, and HealthLeads. As a member of the foundation’s Pioneer Portfolio, she has helped to develop such programs as Rapid Learning, ARCHeS, Project Echo, and Ashoka Changemakers competitions. Nancy also co-chairs the foundation’s Impact Capital Committee which steers RWJF’s Program Related Investments and Strategic Collaboration work. Before coming to RWJF, Nancy served four years as a legislative assistant on health to US Senator Alan Cranston and prior to that was on the committee staff to CA Assemblyman Victor Calvo, former Chair of the CA State Assembly Land Use and Natural Resources Committee and spent a year doing research and evaluation with the UCSF Health Policy Institute.
