Ron Layton has a 30-year career designing and implementing IP business strategies, 15 of which were in the private sector, with a clear life goal of solving extreme trade isolation, he developed Intellectual Property strategies that continue to return income to poor people. Since forming LYIP as an NGO in 2001, Ron Layton has been creating mechanisms for poor producers in developing countries to increase the amount and security of export income. Ron created the IP Value Capture method to apply his IP business skills to development. The IPVC method has been trained and used by producers and stakeholders in most countries of East Africa. In February 2004, Ron was elected as a Global Fellow by the Ashoka Foundation.
