Alexa Beavers is Global Project Manager for Making More Health and Associate Director, Value Chain, at Boehringer Ingelheim, a multinational privately owned pharmaceutical company. Her career spans public and private sectors, and includes leadership in pharmaceutical, financial services, Fortune 500 and public education environments. Alexa is a natural leader who builds relationships easily and adeptly learns the businesses she supports and leads. She is recognized as a change agent, and has led multiple transformational change programs in a variety of areas: Corporate Learning and Development, Organizational Transformation, Project Management, Mergers and Acquisitions, Value Chain Leadership and as a classroom teacher.When asked by Ashoka what life experiences drove her to be involved in social change, Alexa shared her diverse and mobile upbringing, her desire to make a difference through her profession, and her belief that everyone matters. “Moving 5 times as a child and having a multi-cultural family taught me the value of human diversity and the power of one person to make a difference.”Alexa holds a Project Management Professional Certification from the Project Management Institute and has a Masters of Arts in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Alexa was recognized for her leadership as “Industry Rising Star” by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association in 2012, and her views on women in leadership have been published in PharmaVoice magazine and on womenworking.com.Alexa lives in Richmond, Virginia, with her husband and three children. She enjoys traveling with her family, listening to National Public Radio, and dabbling in pottery and painting. When she’s not working or spending time with family, Alexa supports the community through volunteer work with the local PMI Chapter, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Team in Training, and through her affiliation with the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias.
