Thorkil Sonne’s youngest son was diagnosed with autism in 1999 – that changed Thorkil’s perspective in life and his carrier.Thorkil founded Specialisterne (The Specialists) in 2004 in Denmark as the first market driven company based on the competencies of high functioning people with autism. Thorkil is chairman of the Not-for-Profit Specialist People Foundation which he founded December 2008 with Specialisterne as in-kind contribution. The goal is to enable one million jobs for high functioning people with autism and similar challenges.Thorkil will relocate to the USA to lead the efforts to enable 100.000 jobs in the US.Thorkil is an Ashoka Globalizer Fellow and Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur.
