As Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Will oversees the strategy and management of Groundswell. Under his leadership, Groundswell has grown into one of the most innovative social sector organizations in the United States’ emerging clean energy economy.In 2012, he was awarded a Fellowship from Ashoka Innovators for the Public, the world’s largest social entrepreneurship network. In addition, Forbes magazine named him to its 30 Under 30 list of social entrepreneurs. Will was selected to attend the June 2011 Clinton Global Initiative America conference in Chicago - the first event of its kind focused on creating jobs and driving economic growth in the U.S. President Bill Clinton honored Groundswell's Commitment to Action to deploy nationwide its new market organizing model to advance clean energy economic opportunity in communities across the U.S.In 2011, in recognition of Groundswell's community-led impact in the clean energy sector, the White House awarded Will the Champions of Change honor, and the World Economic Forum selected him as a member of its Young Global Shapers community. In 2010, Will was one of 50 global leaders selected for the prestigious Cordes Fellowship, which brings together exceptional social entrepreneurs engaged in poverty alleviation and economic justice enterprises. Named one of Washington Life magazine’s “Who's Next” leaders, Will has also been featured in The Huffington Post and The Nation magazine, while Groundswell's work has been spotlighted in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and ABC world news. His speaking engagements include presentations to students at Sanford School of Public Policy, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. government's GreenGov symposium (plenary speaker).Prior to co-founding Groundswell, Will worked in the field operation of the 2008 Obama for America Campaign. In organizing communities, he employed cutting-edge on and off-line organizing tactics contributing to the most successful civic engagement effort in the nation’s history.After graduating with honors from Vassar College, Will served in an editorial capacity for the American Academy in Berlin, as well as Der Spiegel magazine, the most circulated German-language news weekly in Europe.
